About 15 years ago inhad 1 emu. Raised it from a baby. I tried letting it run around with my chickens but he constantly wondered off and kept running rite down the middle of the rd, I ended up keeping him penned up

My neighbor used to raise emu, he had a couple escape, they were spotted all over the country over the next couple of years. The furthest report I recall was 20miles away.

Emu are wanderers. They don’t have a homing instinct. Love my Jurassic Park babies though!

Thank you so very much. This info is very helpful. I may just pass on the offer of the birds. In the event I do take the emu I will certinally make a containment for them. The birds have not hatched yet, so I have time to prepare.

Did you get the emu chicks? If you did there are two really informative Facebook pages (probably lots more) with helpful information and other emu owners always willing to help with questions and concerns.
