Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning, once again, I went to bed too early,, was up by 3 AM

I went through and deleted a lot of my PM's.. there are a lot of names of people who have fallen by the wayside,,, Otono, Judge, L Miller, Just John, Irish Rover, Tomski, and a few others that I can't remember.. there was a young boy , but I can't remember his name,,

I have a few finishing touches to do the plucker.. then the guy is coming to pick it up..
I will take some pictures..

did someone say "pictures" ?

here is a day old puppy......

I wish that I could find someone to take my Iowa Blue rooster. I don't really have a need for him. He's over 4 years old now, along with a good portion of my hens. The 2 orpington boys I have get along so well. Then he comes along . . .

Release him into the wild. No more rooster.

Cute pups Jim!

Lazy morning here. Everyone is sleeping in, so I am enjoying the quiet time. Watching Top Chef Masters and hanging out with the cats.

good morning,

funny, I just had a call from a guy in Wisc Rapids looking for a colorful rooster with a mild disposition,,

He didn't want to travel real far, I steered him to the guinea lady.. IDK if they worked anything out or not ..

I took pictures..
this is the motor mount board with the on off switch upside down
to prevent water from getting into the box.. the wires are sealed
with beeswax at the box..

..
this is all the working parts and the electrical parts..

I have more pictures, but I will send them on a separate post..
multiple pictures don't always send well..

more pictures:

..
this is the front of the plucker,, that metal chute is under the
discharge opening for feathers and water to come out ..

the wooden frame is 100% clear red oak..

..
this is inside the drum,,
the aluminum feather plate spins at 200 RPM.
the fingers sticking out from the drum sides catch the chicken
and help rotate .. most of the feathers are taken off by the spinning
feather plate..

there are 80 fingers in the feather plate,,
and 72 fingers in the drum...

the four black buttons are 4 fingers inserted pointing down,,
sweep along the bottom of the drum and carry the feathers to
the discharge opening,,

there is a 3/4" gap all around the feather plate and the inside of the
drum,, that is where centrifugal force throws the plucked feathers.

cost of this plucker is $1000.oo

Angiebubs has some nice, colorful roosters to rehome, also. And that goofy calico bantam Cochin I have can go. Lol, BBL, I've tried "releasing then into the wild", meaning leaving them in the woods all night, but they always come back. The wildlife don't take the sacrifices I offer.

Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone.

Wow those were some names from the past Jim, I was just thinking of that young guy the other day. He's probably keeping pretty busy helping with all his younger sibs and school. Nice pic of mom and pups . . . yeah she does not look like she's in the mood for photos. Also great job on the plucker.

Well not much happening here today - have a great weekend!
