Now Now Now, no putting down us snake lovers. I agree about chickens being great pets, but so are snakes. And everything has to eat. There are reasons why they sell frozen feeders though. She is a very pretty hen, and I wouldnt feed a snake my chickens, but please dont put down an animal for trying to survive.

Thank you, everyone! I had no idea what kind of chicken Gracie is and am glad to hear you all think she's a buff orp! That must be one reason she's so gentle. I feel like I'm the lucky one to have her!

I agree with OEGBman. They gotta eat too. Only thing different with what I would do is that I would have made sure that the snake's food grew up a good live rather than a dog crate. I think that even if something is destined to be food, it has to at least live a good life till it reaches the table. I am also a fan of feeding snakes non live food because it usually keeps the snake less agressive.
