I need to thin my sweet corn and beets. They are up and way to many are crowded. I had help that thought they were doing good that had perhaps never planted a seed before. I tried to teach but the prime directive it seemed was just to get back to the house as quickly as possible instead of being focused on doing the job right and saving work later on. Work that can be physically painful. The good thing is that help is going to be here in a couple of days and can see their handy work that needs a lot more work.... Can't say anything but can teach by doing what needs to be done. Right now I'm most happy with the way our Yukon Gold potatoes are growing. I need to remember to take a camera out with me today. About the corn. At least it is thick enough if the crows help thin it there will still maybe some left for us.

We've got the heavy rain today. My transplants should love it.

The rain missed us. I think I might have seen 20 drops and the wind has howled.

So today I will water. Hope the winds let up. Still getting strong gusts.

Finished my raised bed #4:

I'm planting bush beans here. Bed #5, in the back, will probably not be ready until autumn. We'll see.

That's just a small portion of at least two years worth of leaves and yard clippings.

The rain seems to have done my peas in. They look like powdery mildew or some other disease has hit them. I'll be out trying to take some pictures tomorrow.

I forgot to mention that while I was digging I saw a small snake, managed to grab it for identification. It was a Ring-necked snake, less than a foot long, and good to have around the gardens!

They must eat bugs. I would hope squash bugs.

It's still wet here. I think it would be hard to outfit the tiller with pontoons. Looks like maybe I could grow rice here now.

We also have little Brown snakes and Worm snakes, they eat snails and slugs, and insects.

Got my spinach and lettuce planted, in large rectangular pots. I also need to do my onion sets but haven't yet. But I also weeded my flower bed, felt good to get that done
