Squash has sprouted!

I'm not entirely ready for the storms but I am better off now that I was yesterday. I'm hoping to get Roma II beans and 2 varieties of field peas planted in the morning at least. If we can move our old bones and muscles fast enough we may even get a row of okra planted. If we get a little miracle I'll get 6 or so hills of summer squash in too.

Just as well as I didn't plant the squash as it would have washed away. In about 3-4 days I can plant it and it will have time to germinate before we get another gully washing frog drowning deluge.

We've got the heavy rain today. My transplants should love it.

The first sign of edible spring: asparagus!

A friend about 50 miles south of us will have enough asparagus for dinner this weekend.

Mine haven't even poked their heads up yet.

I may yet plant some here in the south. There is one variety that is supposed to grow at least OK. We had it in NW MO but the variety we had only gave us 4 cuttings at most and then we got an early 80° day and it turned bitter on us.

Uh oh, better get cracking on finishing up the raised beds this weekend!

Warmer weather is on the way...
