There is no rule against responding to old threads. Some are very useful and informative and still relevant. If it bothers you, you can just scroll past.

This shouldn't be a struggle. BYC is about helping people and being kind. We were all new once. We all experienced helpfulness and kindness here. No reason not to pass that forward.
