Moved our 4, 7 week-old chickens (BO, Barred Rock, Welsummer & Red SL) out to the coop today. Still need to finish the run and add the nesting boxes but the DW said either the chickens sleep out in the coop or I do so today was moving day. Hope to build the nesting boxes and finish enclosing the run tomorrow. The coop is roughly 4'x4' sitting over a 4'x8' run.

Looking at the coop from our house. You can see the Ador automatic door. Raising the door 12" off the floor (I hope to use DLM) necessitated moving door to the right which means a challenge for situating the ramp to the run. A ramp coming straight down will cross right in front of where I've placed the walk-in door.

Access door to the left of where the nesting boxes will be. To the right are the clean-out doors.

The top door lifts up so I can clean out the poop board under the roost.

The bottom half drops down when I want to clean out the bedding. I'm going to try for DLM.

Inside the coop from the clean-out end before I put in the shavings. The floor is painted in porch paint (free!). The chain will hold two PVC feeders, one for feed and one for grit. The white area to the left is where the nesting boxes will go.

Bedding and roost in place.

Shot of the roost with poop board. I have PDZ under the roost. I have some concern that the roost is pretty close to the ventilation on the side. I peeked in on the girls and found all four on the roost but wonder if they will still use it when it gets colder or on windy nights as I've read that chickens don't like drafts.

feeders and water in place. 2x4s will help raise the feeders as the litter starts piling up.
