Well, as soon as I get 10 posts in and get "privileges", I'll post some photos of the chicken tractor we built and the happy healthy girls free-ranging on the pasture at 2 months of age. They just roost themselves in the evening and I just move them once or twice a day and change/fill their water and crumbles.
4 feet by 8 feet with a barn styled henhouse on one end accessed from below. Up above they have roosts, nesting boxes. The roof on the lower plane on each side lifts up on hinges to attend to feed, cleaning, gathering eggs etc. It is a little cramped for 10 but they do it and it will keep them warm. I had counted on some attrition and wanted to have 6 to 8 chickens and a rooster. I wound up with no rooster in the bunch.
