Hi everyone! I got into raising chickens about a year ago. I lived near San Francisco, CA. There, I was not able to raise any animals except for dogs and cats and other animals you might find at pet smart. Now let me say that I am in high school, but when we moved I was in eight grade. My mom told me my last day of 7th grade that we were going to be moving out of the city and up to Northern California to get some land. My moms best friend lives up here, so that it why we moved where we did. Anyway, after looking all summer for a house, we finally found one in a small neighborhood. It only had a half acre lot, but my parents decided to go for it anyway. So we ended up getting it, and I was so upset because moving meant leaving my friends I had grown up with since kindergarten. But I accepted the fact that we had to move, and got over it by the time we were moved in. The only consolation I had was that I would be able to finally get some animals. After researching what I wanted to get, I decided on a potbelly pig. Then, I decided that I would not be able to pay the vet bills and wouldn't be able to pay for upkeep. Then, a miracle happened. I came across chickens. After researching them, I decided I could take care of them and oat for everything. So I convinced my parents and built a coop. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of the build, but I will post pics of the coop and chickens. The inspiration for the coop came from the fact that our backyard is very tropical looking, so I went ahead and built a surf shack coop. Here it is. I will post more pics later.

So here we have the chicks and then the chicks again in what I call their "awkward stage".

Alright, so here we are at 32 weeks old. We had 5 hens, but my moms dog, who happens to be part wolf, killed one and the other had to be given away to a friend because she was trying to kill one of the others in the flock. I have also bought ducks a couple of weeks ago. Here they are. They're swedish ducks, both drakes.
