We decided to try out hand at laying hens this spring. I searched all over the web including BackYardChickens for design concepts and pre built coops. I have 6 chicks and I planned to have a 8x4 footprint. While there were tons of pre-fab options, I decided that none really fit the space we had designated for the coop. I decided to wing it ( pun intended), and with inspiration from tons of other coops online, I built this over three weekends. I have to still add the nesting boxes and some subtle customizations and we're hoping to paint it this upcoming weekend.
