Prefab with building instructions in 2 flat packs
This prefab has a lay out that is not bad for a coop with a small attached run. And someone who has a plan to build one would never find it between the reviews. With a few alterations it could have been a nice coop for my 6 bantams who free range a couple of hours most days and have an extra daytime run where they spend most of the day.
Such a small build is okay for bantams in a mild climate but not recommended where you have long and cold winters.
Prefab in 2 flat packs
A month ago I bought a new coop in 2 flatpacks I had to assemble. I started to build it but it was really crap and the roost area was smaller as promised.

Lay out and instructions
The instructions to build it were good. And maybe it’s a great lay out for someone who likes to build it’s own coop with a few alterations.

Quality
I returned the coop to the shop. Not because it was not big enough for my 6 small bantams but because the quality was so crap. I could even see through the slats at one point.
So I returned it to sender and made a new plan.

Necessary alterations
- First thing to adjust is the height of the roost. It should be higher as the nestbox.
- Second is the ventilation. This is not enough and best place to add ventilation is in both the triangles, directly under the roof. That wat the chickens have no draft on their bodies and t give a permanent airflow.

This playhouse is really small. I can’t stand in it. But I have a system to clean it out easily. I put 2 pieces of cardboard on the floor (2 unfolded wine cartons). I have a garden kneel mat I put in front of the door opening. fold the dirty cardboard to the center and pull it out. If any dirt is left behind I use a small shovel to get this out too. If the floor is clean, I add new unfolded cartons to cover the perspex floor. Add a little bedding and its ready.
