We needed to move our coop for a new septic system. My husband has access to free pallets at work so we started from there to build our open air style coop. My chickens free range so a run isn't really needed for us.
To start I got some cinder blocks leveled to place the pallets on top of.

This is the only picture I have of the start and I ended up moving the cinder blocks because I didn't have them spaced out enough. After filling all the pallets in I screwed the pallets together.

Then we made a bottom wall panel 3 pallets wide and added 4x4's to the outsides for stability. Then we added 2 more pallets onto the top. This wasn't easy as we had to lay the pallets on the ground and use a sledgehammer to get the pallets into place. We actually bought a pallet breaker off Amazon and that helped loosen the boards to slide onto the 4x4's easier. Then you just hammer the nails back together after the pallets are in place. Sorry i don't have a picture of that process or the wall before we moved it.. We then positioned the wall into place. This took 3 strong people as its extremely heavy. We made a second wall the same way and used cinder blocks to make that side lower to allow room for a sloped roof. Next we filled in the remaining pallets and screwed them together and added metal brackets to secure them to each other. We then attached some 2x4's to level the 4x4's. My husband used metal brackets to secure the side of the coop to our shed.

I finished filling in the pallets and started to put hardware cloth along the walls on the inside. I got a 100ft roll 48in wide and cut it with clippers and stapled it from the bottom of the pallet to the roof at the top.

Next step was to trim the 4x4's and put a frame on top for the roof.

We added 2x2 supports to attach the roof panels to.

This is how my husband secured the coop to the shed(metal brackets and screws.)

I got an automatic door for Christmas which he installed.

Hubby added 2x2's in-between the frame to add support.

Still working on the inside some. But I'm pretty happy with the results.
