Started with the basic measure of 8x10 coop and run 16x24. We laid down hard wire fence under and around the coop and run. Then built on top of it. We used yard staples to hold the fence in place and so we could mow around it. We insulated the walls, vinyl on the flooring and paint the interior with out door house painted. So when I clean it, it is easier to clean. I can take a hose to the inside of the coop and scrub it down. We put down a plastic and stone underneath the coop to keep it dry. We put a window in to add air inside. We also put in solar power fans and lights. The lights inside and outside the coop and run. Our birds are big so we made bigger then normal nesting boxes and painted them for easy to clean. We used some left over metal for the roof. We put three foot of gravel across the front of the run by the chickens door. They have feathers on their legs. It helps to keep them clean and dry in wet weather. Painted the coop and run, then covered the run in chicken wired including the top. We put a trap on the run to add some shade. Now that are birds are big we hang our feeder it holds about thirty pounds. We add a dust bath in one corner of the run they love hanging out there. We put in two swings they love it when they were young. They are now to big for it, so will put them in next run. I am not sure I would do anything different. It been up three years and we still love it.
