My husband served in the US Air Force for over 25 years. In May, 1981, an Advanced Range Instrumentation Aircraft (A.R.I.A.), Boeing EC 328, went down over Maryland, killing all on board. He lost 21 friends and colleagues. There is a memorial to them at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. The youngest man on board was 20 years old, Randy Moffett. The night before the flight, he was bowling with us. The next morning, he was gone. Here is a list of those who perished that terrible day:

Speckledhen tell your husband I said thank you for all he did for his country. I know what that kind of loss is like. My DH lost friends in Somolia.

Thanks for posting that Cyn. DD is AF and was stationed at Wright Pat for awhile, she will also retire from the AF.

Cyn, thank you and your husband for your service to our country.

My son served in Iraq and lost his best friend to a sniper on the last day, last mission, last house they were to inspect before being shipped home. He still wears "Jose's" wrist band today and still can't talk about it.
