Is a Red Star the same as a Sex link?

Yep! Same thing. It all depends on what the certain hatchery decides to call 'em.

~~I stand corrected! If you go to Cackle Hatcheries web site (I wouldn't recommend them however do to personal reasons) they have Red Star's and Red Sex-Links. They are both sex-link's, but are different.

There are at least 4 different Red Sex links.

Red Stars
Cinnamon Queens
Isa Browns
Golden Comets...

I think there is at least one more... part-zeimers is setting in on me.

It really has to do with the parents.

Rhode Island or New Hampshire Roo over Barred Rock Hen produces Black Sex Links.

Rhode Island Red Roo over White Rock produces Golden Comets or Gold Sex Links.

Rhode Island Red Roo over Rhode Island White Hen produces Red Star.

Go to feathersite for all the possible variations.

You don't by chance have anyway of getting a Rhode Island Red rooster and a Delaware hen do you? That is what Cackle (maybe other hatcheries also, not sure) crosses to get the Red Star. Just a thought.
