My sister is a cancer survivor and has to visit the cancer center regularly for check-ups. When she was in there last week, she learned that they are in desperate need of hats. There seems to be a huge influx in cancer at this center and they have so many patients and not enough hats to hand out.

Anyone who would like to knit some hats, crochet some hats, or even just buy some hats and send to me, I would be sure to get them over to the cancer center. The colors asked for most frequently are solid colors in more mellow tones like navy, brown, etc... These people have to wear hats all of the time, so they like the ones that are less conspicuous and not so noticeable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and would make so many people who are having a difficult time in there lives more comfortable.

I'll give it a try - but please don't count on it yet, I have a few things I have to finish up first.

Thank you Wildsky and thank you Chel for posting those patterns!

Another really quick way to get some hats done is if you happen to own one of the knifty knitter knitting hoops. They make great hats and it only takes a few hours to do one. My sister and I just can't get as many made as what is needed. That's why I'm asking for some help with this. My sister said she had to stand and watch one of the nurses turn away a patients request for a hat because they are out right now.

I have no idea how to knit, so I can't help. However I wanted to say, this is a great cause. When I was first in the hospital after being diagnosed with cancer, I got the most adorable pink and purple knitted hat. I still have it, and will probably always keep it.

if I didn't have such nice internet buddies myself my kids wouldn't have hats.

I will gladly donate 2 hats! My mother passed away from lung cancer when I was 17, in 1983. I remember we were always on the hunt for cute hats.

Please PM me your address so I can get them in the mail asap. Mine will be crochet, though.
