You may all think I'm nuts, but as a 53 year old woman It's hard for me to believe there are such beautiful places where people live like that! I have lived in the city my whole life, and have done my share of camping, but I cannot imagine living in such splendor!

but I think that if the truth be known, that is not a heron but an albino mosquito.

Hey Bayou chica, does that swamp/bayou drain to the Black and Ouachita Rivers or does it go to the MIss. River?

Was raised in the Atchafalaya Basin and the photos bring back memories. bet Mosquitos will carry you off at dusk and dawn.

Isn't it lovely??? It's so nice this time of yr. There is a price you have to pay, tons of skeeters!! That's the only bad thing I can say about living here. Oh yeah & the people that live across the bayou. No respect for the beauty that's around them. Then the tourists who go 50 mph down our little bayou, there are hidden cypress logs in the water. I always laugh when ya hear them hit one.Not saying I want them hurt, but why do they have to go sooo freaking fast???
(sorry for the vent,lol)
TxChiknRanchers, I'm not certain. I think it may end up in the Macon River or Bayou Lafourche ??? I grew up by the Ouachita River, lovely place. Going down to the river is such a healing place. My mother was raised in Krotz Springs, right on the Atchafalaya.
She said when she was young they would get crawfish the size of lobsters!!
Hey MayberrySaint, I just spend most of my time outside. It just love being outdoors & hanging out with my animals & nature.
So far I have only lost 1 pullet to a hawk in almost 4 yrs.We have alot of cover & my BIL has some nice woods with low underbrush.
Thanks everyone for your kind words,
Miriam
