Lucy my brown leghorn went broody, so I slipped some fertilized eggs I got from craigslist under her. They are EEXRIR and EEXBL mixes. On day 19 I had my first pip. The next morning I had 5 chicks. This is my fist hatch. I have had so much fun watching mom teach the babies how to eat and drink. It was so cute, mom was cleaning her feathers while all the chicks watched. Then they all started to do the same thing. How sweet!
She is a great mother - the only thing is that she is not very people friendly. She doesn't let me get too close to the chicks.
