Finished my chicken tractor today, but cannont figure out how to put the wheels on. I am thinking that retractable wheels are the best choice, but can't find any and not smart effough to make myself. My question is this, if I put 4 wheels on this thing, it is going to raise the tractor off the ground a few inches, will this be a problem with predators. Keep in mind I do have a secure coop attached to the tractor to put the birds in a night. Any help is appreciated.
 
I only use 2 wheels in the back,then as I lift the front the weight will be on the back wheels.You'll just have to block the tractor up off the ground then put wheels on,then unblock.Otherwise you' probably won't be able to move it because the weight will be on the ground not the wheels. Will

Mine are 8" lawnmower wheels, I just bolted them on to the ends of treated 4x4 "axles" - it's reeeeally easy to push around, but probably harder to turn around than just having 2 wheels. I push it forward about 9 ft. every night (my chickens are effectively strip grazing my back yard) and I only have to turn it around about every 2 weeks so not a big deal.
 
I just bought a dog house that I want to turn into a coop and run for my three banties. Paid $150.00.

He primed it. I plan to paint it barn red with white trim. Not sure what to do with the plywood top. Should I paint it several layers or add roofing? It rains a lot here.

I got the dog house from a man down the street that makes them out of pallets. It's 3 1/2 X 4 1/2 ft with a double floor and piano hinged top. He angled the bottom pallet skids to slide but the thing weighs a ton.

I will need to put wheels on it to move it without tearing up the lawn every couple of days.

Need advice on the best way to add wheels. Should I put them on one end or both on the house and then how should I attach the run and should I make that so I they come apart.

Advice greatly needed and appreciated.

(Originally, I was going to go with an arc type tractor but decided with all the rain we get in the Pacific NW, I would be better off with something else).

Front with a slider door he put on for me once he learned I was going to use it for chickens. I'll need to add a secure lock.

Thankful he put a piano hinge to open - there's no way I could open myself otherwise. I plan to paint the interior and add vinyl to the floor.

Is there soffit vents or just those two little holes on the gables? That doesn't look like enough ventilation when the door is closed.

That's the only advice I have, no idea on the wheels since I only have experience with my lowly little house. My run de-tatches and it's a PITA to keep baby chicks in since they can escape through about a 1.5" hole - you gotta make the run and house connection pretty secure. I close my doghouse door at night so predators aren't a problem, but I have a chick that I recently renamed (from Patty) Houdini and she's not safe from the cats if she's running around lose!!
