I ordered 10 female ducklings from Metzer Farms in May, and paid extra for sexing. Well, this morning I noticed a DEFINITE curled feather on the tail of one of the Khaki Campbells. No difference in feather color so far.

Do hatcheries usually guarantee sexing?

I got my campbells from Metzer this year too! I ordered 6 girls and 2 boys and they sent an extra that thank god turned out to be a female. Thats exactly how my boys looked before they changed color. I think that there is somthing like a 90% sexing guarantee but I could be wrong.

They are very nice when they finally feather out. It seemed like I was waiting forever with this last batch. They are great ducks IMO. The drakes are not very aggressive and they are great foragers too. I have had them in the past and my only issue is that they like never go broody so if you want to breed like me you are out of luck. Lucky me I got my buff orps this year so I can have them hatch out some ducks next year for me.

I had not really planned on breeding yet, which is why I ordered only females. I bought both Khakis and Welsh Harlequins to see which breed I preferred. I was leaning towards getting a WH drake at some point, but I guess that decision is made for me!

I got mine April 22 and they started to show color a month ago and are fully feathered out now. Yours look like they should be coming right along, they have that fuzzy sort of scruffy look that shows that they should be getting new feathers soon. I like that one with striping on its head too. I dont claim to be an expert but I have never seen that with campbells. Very pretty.

They seem to be losing feathers the last couple of weeks, but I understand that they molt before they get their adult feathers, so I am hoping it happens soon. They are a little scruffy right now.

The one with the stripe on the face is actually a Golden Hybrid 300 from Metzer. Since I was not buying any drakes (ha ha), I decided to try a couple of the hybrids for egg-laying. The two Campbells don't have that.

What a pretty boy! Was he sent as an extra? That is what happened to us when we ordered from McMurray last year. We ordered all females and the extra was a drake. Had no intention of breeding, and now we have hatched out 16 duc klings from an incubator and 1 hatched yesterday morning under a broody. It's amazing how addicting it is. LOL

Thanks - he is a cutie! He was not the extra duckling though. I ordered 4 Campbells, 3 Hybrids, and 3 WH. One of the WH died, and they sent 4 Hybrids - all female. This one was just a mistake in the sexing. I gave 2 Campbells and 2 Hybrids to my sister, and of course, they are all girls!!
