my rooster has a slight cold what should i do?

Chickens don't get colds. Check out the Emergencies/Diseases/Injuries and Cures section of this site. There are a lot of respiratory problems going around this year.
 
Try giving him about 1/2 cc of Tylan 50 for about 3 days.

You may also want to contact threehorses, she has great knowledge on poultry sicknessess.

Since you do not know if you are treating a bacteria or virus, you may be using antibiotics blindly and unnecessarily. As stated, chickens do not get colds like we do, but they get diseases that often make them carriers for life and even if he recovers, he may not really be well. Some diseases can be passed down through the eggs, as well. Just want you to be aware of all this before you decide to treat him.
