Here is one about a month ago from him:

These silkies crack me up -- my grandfather raised dozens of show birds, including silkies, until he died when I was 4. Every time I saw one of them I asked the same question, "Where is it's head!?!" Do you know, I never got a straight answer!

It's a shame about those foot feathers -- this is a really lovely bird.

Upon further examination, the feathers aren't growing in white. They are turning white at the ends and toward the (stem?) of the feather. It is mainly on my cockerel, Clyde, but I also checked my blue pullet and she has a few like this, though not many. My silkies are kept on shavings, and have access to the dirt. The only explanation for this (maybe) is a month before putting them in their coop, we treated the coop area with liquid sevin (sp?). But again, that was a while before we put them in the coop.

What could be causing this?

ETA: Sonoran, how does he look other than the foot feathers??

Hi,
I just can say, here in germany this rooster isn´t a good showchicken. We have a complete different standard.

I think you should enter him in a show! Whats the worst that could happen? The judge tells you that its DQ'd and you're out $2. On the other hand, it could be the best black Silkie there and the judge overlooks the one single feather and you win!

Show winnings are only a single judges opinion, at a single show, on a single day.
