I have adopted this cock for the time being. Crazy story - my mom found him in her backyard. She has no idea who has chickens in her neighborhood in town. So, I've brought him home since I have a coop.

Any ideas on what mix he is? Polish and Silver Laced Wyandotte maybe? Check out how long his tail feathers are...almost like a Phoenix when his tail is drooped.

AND - look at these SPURS in the last pic...does it look like someone has been sharpening them on purpose???

This is what McMurray hatchery says about Silver Polish:
"Here is another outstanding exhibition variety, a member of the ancient breed of "Poland Fowls", and one most striking in appearance. The plumage is silvery white, each feather laced with lustrous black. Hens lay white eggs, are non-setters."
He looks like the picture on their site. He's gorgeous! Is he friendly?

Very friendly...did not try to flap away, just let me pick him up and didn't seem nervous at all. Make me think he's been handled by humans quite a bit, but....he has lice under his wings so I'm going to have to treat him for that. I've got him in the isolation pen. He seemed really hungry when I gave him food.
