then let me say ... Ima kick his rear end if he does it again! Lol. Just kidding, sort of ...
What happened was this past weekend, I bought a 5 gallon waterer from TSC. The kind with the cap on the bottom that you put on when you're moving the waterer so it won't spill and take off and attach it to the little cap keeper knob on top when it's ready for the chickens.
Anyway, I gave him the waterer at work Tuesday cause the chickens are at his house and I wasn't going to be able to get over there until last night (thursday) ... so, he takes the waterer, the new bag of feed and does the chick chores for me. He said that waterer is awesome cause that cap makes it so easy to move without getting water everywhere.
So, tuesday night goes by ... Wednesday goes by ... and I get there Thursday night. I check the chickens and they all come running out of the coop into the yard. I'm like .. .wow, they're happy to see mommy!!!! Um, no ... they want to scratch around. So they do that for a half hour, I get everyone back in the coop and was admiring how full the waterer still was and thinking "Awesome! It'll be days before the go through that much water!" then I go over to inspect it closer and notice that dbf forgot to take the cap off the water outlet!!!!!
My chicks had no water for TWO DAYS!!!! Ack!!!
So the minute they see me at the waterer all 19 come running over and immediately nose dive into the trough. They ALL drank for 10 minutes!!!! Ron felt so bad, but it was an honest mistake and no one died.
There were a few that drank so much the ended up overflowing for lack of a better word and kinda spit up a stream of water. Poor chickies!!!
Just thought it would be a good reminder to make sure those caps are off the outlet!!!!!
