So this use to be my tree house when I was growing up. Then, when I was in college, I hatched out a pair of Muscovies and my dad modified with hardware cloth & that's where my 'scovies lived for two years.
My parents are trying to clean up their yard so we hauled it home from Portland a year or two ago.
The top was actually the bottom of my tree house. My dad sawed the legs off to get it into our truck.
Here it is a week ago:
Here is the spot I chose to put it...you can see Cash drinking from the goose pool
back behind my existing coop:
I went to Home Depot and got cement blocks for it. It took my hubby a little bit to get it lifted and I had to arrange the blocks!
Here's what it looks like now!
It's not very big (4' wide x 6' long) but I think it will work. It's actually SIDEWAYS now...hubby is going to move it again before it gets too much heavier. We're going to use the backhoe to smooth out the ground and reset the blocks. The slope will go off the back of the coop (opposite of my existing coop). I am on the hunt for some good windows, too. I bought some vents but have since decided we might be just leaving the top part open (hardware cloth) along the roof line on the south side for ventilation.
We're also disagreeing about the pop door--hubby wants it in the floor, and I want it in the side with a COVERED ramp to prevent drafts.
My thinking with it in the side is that eventually, I can split it into TWO coops (it would house two pairs) and I can add another breed!
BTW, this will NOT be insulated and NOT be heated.
