HI!!! Welcome to the begining of the rest of your chicken life!! It is wonderful to meet you. There are many members on the board from different countrys, so I hope someone can help you with your questions on breed availability. Fresh eggs from your own hens is one of the great joys of our lives. Welcome again and great luck on your new endevour!

Hi

There are so many great breeds to choose from, you really can't go wrong, but do check into the breeds that handle your seasons best. If you have hard winters, then look for winter hardy breeds. Buff Orpingtons are awesome egg layers and great for a first time flock. So many others qualify as well. Just keep reading the posts here and check out this site: http://www.ithaca.edu/staff/jhenderson/chooks/chooks.html#p

If
that link doesn't work, just look up Henderson chicken chart

Hi there, I'm in Swansea and am looking to rehome 3 hens. There are 2 pekin bantams in black and grey colouring, and one japanese bantam in white. They have a coup which is quite rickity but will do for a start.... At the moment there is a grey silkie cockrel with them but I think i'll have him put down as he can be agressive, (it's the nature of cockrels), but if you want him as well let me know. The 3 hens are very small (cute) but will only lay small eggs. The good news is that between them I get about 8 eggs a week which is masses so I just have a load of little eggs.... The good news of this email is that I'll let them go for free as you sound like you would give them a good home... Where are you in s wales, maybe you could come down for a look. I'll try and upload a pic for you as well... Let me know what you think
