Comparing 1st egg to one a week later

One of my ducks laid her 1st egg last week. She has been laying about
two eggs every three days. Here is a pic of her 1st egg beside her latest:

WOW! That is a huge difference. Is this the normal changes in the eggs
of a new layer?
 
A new layer will often start with some small , odd shaped eggs , ones with no shell and even some double yolkers while they are settling in to laying. The difference is why some people say its not good to incubate first eggs. They do get bigger over time which means more hatch- and those that do will be slightly bigger ducklings too.
