VERY new to this but have done plenty of studying. Got some pictures of the quail chicks from today's hatch, namely because I have some surprises. I thought I ordered only tuxedo and jumbo browns.. This was proven wrong upon the hatching of two English Whites; they're the ones with the "freckle" on their head, right?
Aside from the Whites there is also one mystery colored chick. Right now I am assuming that it is a Red Tibetan (commonly accepted name?), but it could also be a Rosetta. I am sorry if the photoshopping makes this confusing, was just trying to really emphasize the one in particular. In the first picture, the chick with white/yellowish markings is the pharaoh/brown jumbo correct?
Here are the babies, but with emphasis on the mystery color:
So.. am I right? And how does this happen, yano, getting only tuxedos and brown, but ending up with some English Whites and Red Tibetan/Rosettas?
I can try and get pictures later, but is it common for tuxedos to look like they have chipmunking? One of mine looks as if it has black with white markings and right down the sides of its back are some dark-red fading-to-black markings..
