My first time hatching so I decided to chronicle my process with pics...sorry if this is boring but as a newbie it would have helped me...and come Sat./Sun. we'll find out if I did it right!

I decided to cut up some foam egg cartons so to try and lesson the effect of 'egg-soccer'..

I left two eggs out free to see what happens if they just sit free on the wire like people say to do.

Nicely done! Did those little two egg holder things come with your bator or where did you get those? I need some. Good luck with you hatch. I'll be looking forward to updates. Take care.

I just cut up some egg cartons flat-side and then I decided to turn them over as I thought that the chicks could flip them over too easy the other way...

I remember when my incubator was nice and clean like that,

but it has been a long time ago !!!!!!! Nice pictures and good thinking on egg corrals !!!! Good luck with the hatch !!
 
Hi, I also have a pip!!

The very first pip in the incubator of 21 eggs. It was at 1am early this morning, for a Christmas Eve hatch, a little early. I was keeping vigil beside the egg, until I could not keep my eyes open any longer.

My dogs Kimi and Rummy also kept vigil by my side, waiting for the chicks' arrival. In the meantime, Rummy watches over the 1 week old chicks that hatched from the previous batch.

I went into lockdown yesterday with my 2 eggs (out of 62) - shipped eggs, first time with a homemade incubator, need I say more lol

I have spent hours peering through the window at the silent eggs! They aren't even due until tomorrow at the earliest!
