Hey everyone! I have THE BEST science teacher EVER and he's letting me incubate chicks in school! It will be so much fun, but so so difficult!

We are starting on Thursday. I'm using a little giant incubator and an automatic egg turner due to weekends. I wrote a guide and will be doing most of the work, due to many inexpirienced fingers that could be fatal handling the eggs.

I'm hoping to set a variety of eggs laid by my hens and see which has a better hatch rate. Hey, what do you know, I may end up housing 20 more chicks by the end of the month! It can't be that bad.

I went through the precautions that come along with the incubation process and my teacher agreed! I'm so excited! It'll be so much fun! I will post updates any time I can and pictures! I may need lot's of help along the way, so stay tuned! This is my second hatch and my first time using an egg turner. I'm 100% sure there will be problems. 60 OTHER people who all want to get up-close and personal with the chicks... *faints* I'm a very particular and controlling person, so if just one thing goes wrong or if someone , say, knocks over the bator or gets too close, *faints again* Gosh, what did I get myself in to??

Thanks for looking! Please post comments, questions etc. This is a very ambitious eggsperiment!

I am trying to get my teacher to do the same thing!

Our class was supposed to build a rain garden, but the district took away most of that money, so now we have a few 100 left. Some friends and I are trying to talk her into it. Any tips if you don't mind me asking?

My teacher actually came to me and asked if we could do it cause we're doing life science this year. I'm in 6th grade and in the highest classes, but science isnt ability leveled so I'm so worried that someone will jostle the bator or hurt the eggs or chickies. I'll probably be like "Don't touch it! Don't get near it!"

Well, my teacher talked to me today about the whole thing! It got me out of 1/2 a class!

Besides that she said that she would like to do it, but after the chicks hatch I would have to take them home. And, I would have to supply evrything we need!

I don't mind... at all. The bad part is I don't have an incubator, and I already asked for my mom to pay for chicks for valentines and for easter I am getting the ecoglow brooder lamp. I am thinking I need to sell some things to buy a mini incubator. I have plenty of fertile eggs. I'm thinking of 5 eggs in the incubator, so if a few don't hatch the will have a buddy. Hopefully!

Does this seem about right good?

My teacher was just the opposite. He said that he'd pay for anything we need!

Great idea awesome!

Lucky! I dont know why she wants me to pay for it. We have like a budget for a rain garden, but it got cut so we just have about a 1000$ laying around. It irritates me, but I want to do the icubation to educate some of the dumb people.
