Howdy all.. I am new here and learning a whole bunch..

I am building a tractor that is 5x10 feet and 3 feet tall. The coop is 5x5 feet tall and I have 4 nests.

The chickens will be able to free range in a pen that will be huge.

Bout how many is too many.. Reds and prolly a couple rocks..

Thanks for any advice.. and if you need more info lemmy know..

thanks

P.S. pictures soon...

I have a 16 X 24 coop with a 6X6X8 henhouse. I have 2 Red Stars. I can close off 1/4 of the coop at a time to let grass grow. MY hens are in chicken heaven. They both lay one egg a day EVERY day. I may add 2 more soon. I think if I had more than 6 they'd get cranky and feel crowded.
One hen consistently lays an EXTRA JUMBO egg. (is there such a thing as extra jumbo? if not, there should be, as they weigh on average 4 to 4.5 ounces each)

Sorry, I am not quite getting this... a) will they be in a tractor pen all the time or will they be free-ranging? and b) what dimensions are the coop or the shelter part of the tractor or whatever? (5' tall, by 5' wide, by what long?)

Are you saying they will freerange during the day, but spend nights in a tractor that has a 5x5 shelter part with a 5x5 pen part?

Sorry to be obtuse,

Pat
