May 7, 2011, 8am to 4pm., The Fingerlakes Feather Club is sponsoring its first annual "Swap Meet" at the Cornell Cooperative Extension, of Oneida County, 121 Second St., Oriskany, NY, 13424, off Thruway exit 32.

The Coop is on the corner of Second St. & Judd Rd. THere is a large sign that says "Farm & Home Center of Oneida County" on the corner.

All small animals are welcome.

The fee for selling will be $10 per space. Free for buyers.
We expect chickens, waterfowl, turkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals, goats, pigs, pigeons, etc, plus equipment, cages, feeders, incubators, etc. that correspond to these animals.

Vendors must provide their own cages, enclosures, etc.
All animals must be confined safely.
Spaces will be assigned on a first come basis and be approximately 10'x 10'.
There will be no food provided so bring your lunch.
There are restrooms available.
This is an outdoor event, so dress appropriatly.

This is a great opportunity for 4-Hers to obtain stock from breeders for their yearly projects.
We expect that most vendors will be bringing good stock for sale and hope this will be a successful yearly event.

Questions...pm me privately.

Thats a good question. I think they talked about allowing crafts, but I'm not sure that people would come for that if its not advertised, and we decided to not say anything about other things, just the animals.

I guess that we would need to be there before 8am, you're right. we didn't think about that. I'll see what everyone thinks.

I'd love to hear what people are planning on bringing.

I'll probably have Marans chicks & eggs, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte chicks & eggs, & Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas, maybe just eggs. Donno, they are not laying, weird..
Also maybe Narragansett eggs & Bourbon Red eggs, mybe poults.

I also have a bunch of totes that I used to use for nesting boxes, but I can't bend down to look in them anymore, so I changed them out for open boxes.

Probable just a couple dollars each. Already have door. Easy to clean, just hose out.

I'll be bringing some BLRW mixed roos about 2 months old. The roos were hatched from a BLRW roo over barred rock, BO, BLRW, GLW, and silver laced brahma hens.
3 are out of the barred rock (barred with rosecomb) We know because they are sex linked.
2 are orange (1 straight comb and 1 rosecomb)
2 are laced wyandotte, pure for color or not is the question

They are going to be some pretty boys once they get out of that gangly teenage stage.

I currently have the bator running and plan to bring some EE chicks. I am also bringing a cornish bantam roo born in october who I thought was a hen until it started crowing last week.

Tab's chicken obsession :

When day old chicks are brought to sell at events like this how do you keep them warm enough? Disposable heat packs?
Are there any other methods available?

Yes, heat packs. You can buy them fairly inexpensively on the internet. Or, make sure they are in the sun and check on them frequently.
