does any1 have true way to determine sex of a mature nird first someone tells me the size of the head then another tells me the knob on the leg im lost can any one help me ???

Both can be used as an educated guess.. Only true way is to vent sex them. Most of the time.. NOW MOST of the time, the roos have a larger more rounded head and bumps on their legs... If I see both on one bird 99% of the time thats a roo.. If I see a small head with out bumps on their leg.. 99% of the time its a hen. The rest is just a guess!

My Roo has a bump for a spur ,and my hen has nothing on her legs, and they are a confirmed pair.
The Roo is also much bigger the the hen

I have had first year roos with VERY little bump on their leg.. and a hen or two that has larger than average spur but still not as big as most roos.

If you watch your birds carefully, especially around this time of year the males will stand straighter and keep their feathers looking nice while the females will usually stay hunched over and have messier feathers from laying eggs. I have also noticed with my birds that males will have a more red beak and legs and my females will usually be more of an orange. That and what everyone else said should give you a good idea of what you have.

I hope these pics show up good enough to see what I was talking about

This is what I assume is a pair.. they were sold as a two year old pair and I have no reason to believe otherwise. I have not vent sexed these as they have been stuck in the mail for 80 hours and I feel they are stressed enough for now.

Note the head shape and body size. Rooster on the right, hen on the left.

Same birds standing in the same position.. note the rooster has no bumps on his leg! (the spot on his leg is a touch of poop from being in the box)
