Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone would be interested but I thought I would try posting this anyway.

Last year I hatched a batch of Blue Wheaton Ameraucanas, and one of them hatched with a badly deformed leg. I just couldn't put down the chick since it looked so sad. But it grew just fine, and turned out to be a girl----although it doesn't seem to lay any eggs lol. It definitely is a hen though. She's supposed to be a standard but is on the smaller side. I have raised her indoors in a cage with a silkie hen for a buddy. If anyone would be interested in her for FREE please let me know. I might even include her silkie hen buddy too. I just don't have the heart to have her put to sleep for her handicapp.

I was just hoping maybe there was a specialist out there who has experienced with handicapped chickens, or maybe even a vet willing to adopt her and possibly even help her with her leg?

I will try to get some pics of her this weekend to post. But please keep her adoption in mind.

Thanks for looking & Take Care,
Bill.

I know what you mean, this little one sure has been a surprise with how well it grew. I didn't even think it would survive to this point....and yet here it is. It would probably make a fun house pet for someone. I just don't have the time or space with trying to raise new chicks this year. I just hope I find a good home for her.

Take Care,
Bill.

Hey there,

I managed to get a pic of Mary to post and share. I hope it isn't too big. But at least you guys will get to see what she looks like. Although you can't see her bad leg since she usually keeps it tucked under her body.

I'm so glad you found a home for her. I have a special needs chicken (can't walk but can stand a little) that I adopted a year ago. She lives in my bedroom and has become my favorite pet (greatly confusing the dogs, I'm sure). She is so sweet. If she is anything like mine, she might like bubble baths and the blow drier. She gets treats every night and loves apples. Good luck with your new pet!! I'm happy she found a home!!

Please let me know if I can help with transportation at all. I will be visiting NJ (Ocean City) in a few weeks and then a few weeks later heading to Illinois (through Indiana)!

So glad to hear that you found a home for her - she is beautiful.
