Yup...as I type I have a chicken on my shoulder.
She is a Cochin, I promised myself I would not get another chicken unless it was a show Silkie but the little girl just caught my eye at the poultry market and show in Oxford MA today.
God im 21 and I was caught begging my mom, who I live with at the moment while my fiancée and I look for a house with enough land for our animals, to let me bring another chicken home...
The deal was, I could bring her and Mr. Bo-bo home if, and only if, I stop nagging my fiancée about bring home his video games XD DEAL!!!
I have named her Nilly, and the male that came with her I have named Mr. Bo-bo, He is the sweetest rooster I have ever met, prefers to stay in the crate for now. Hehe, oh my goodness this bird...When I first saw her I was instantly drawn to her and curious if I could show her *Nope to much white* but thats ok! I then knew I would be pushing my luck if I brought her home.
Well after a few rounds of a search for a show silkie and no luck, I found myself returning to this tiny little bird....
Well someone had taken her out of her cage and was holding her, I then took the opportunity to call my mother and go "PLEASE????" Just like when i found the box of kittens on the side of the road T_T
She then reminded me of the Buff Orphington Rooster and said no...
So, determined to NOT get the little pullet I went up and asked if I could just "see" her. That ended with me holding her on my lap, having her take a nap on my lap, hiding in the crook of my arm...Then, low and behold, the women sitting next to me turned out to be a show Silkie breeder! Hazah I might have even found my show bird because of little Nilly!
Anyway, i took a picture of the Cochin, sent it to my mother and she agreed she was cute. She still said no...Well, after I told her the little creature was sitting on my lap she finally caved and told me that I have my fiancée to deal with, and that if I complain about him going out and buying another video game then I cant grumble when he complains about me bring home another chicken XD *He really does love the hens, hes just got to come off sounding manly thats all, so he pretends like its a big deal*
Hehe well I got her! I got Nilly, and Mr. Bo-bo who just came out of the crate to perch on my lap...and poop...thanks Mr. Bo-Bo...Anyway apparently when i left Nilly with her breeder and went off to fetch the crate, she was looking for me! XD Well now I am in trouble as it looks like she is very attached to me already, goodness I hope she realizes shes a chicken!
And this story would sound a lot less pathetic if I was still 16 or 17 T_T Look at me, begging to bring home a pet chicken at the age of 21...Haha im a grown child XD as I am sure many of you guys are, except you guys have your spouses to deal with XD Mine just makes a little fuss and then calls it "His" chicken.

And yes, i will post pictures but you have to wait! My camera is charging
