I was calling him a Blue EE, but have been told he's a Lavender EE. I think he's crossed with Wheaten, judging by his cape and wing feathers. Great muff and beard! He gets prettier each week, and a pretty nice boy! He hatched from a pale green egg. He's been vaccinated for Marek's. He could be used for a colored egg project.

Pick up only. Or, if you bid enough to cover my gas round trip, I'll deliver.

Dang it, he is EXACTLY what I've been wanting. I can't find a pretty EE roo for the life of me (not without paying a TON of money for shipping

If you can't find a home for him, please let me know. If you would be willing to ship, I'd pay for shipping for him, my only concern is the heat

I think shipping is possible if the temp at both ends of the route are 85 degrees or less. That's pretty easy here, but I'm betting, not likely in Texas. Shipping is also pretty expensive, from what I understand. Based on the sticky at the top of the auction pages, the live poultry box alone will run about $15-$20, and then, add Express Mail costs for about 5 pounds. (I'm guessing he doesn't weigh more than that yet. He's still growing.) But, you're right. I bet it's really expensive.

I googled shipping live poultry, and it looks possible, but difficult in the summer. If you really want him, I'd hold onto him until your weather cools down, and then send him when it's safe for him.
 
Yes, I would be very interested-I think he'd be perfect (I've got some EE I'd like to breed him to and some lavender orps); however, if you find a home for him closer to you, don't hold him on my account; however, if you can't, let me know. It probably won't get down to the 80s here until September

So far, you're the only taker. He could go to a local rooster rescue, but I'd rather he went somewhere where he could be a normal rooster with a normal flock of his own girls. My neighbors are pretty nice about my birds, and they put up with a lot of crowing last year until I could find homes for everyone. If you really want him, and no one else pipes up, I can try to keep him until September. He'll just have to have a bachelor pad in the garage at night, once he starts crowing at full steam. Let's keep in touch about this.

How can you tell that the EE is a roo?

Raising my first chicks and i have 2 female barred rock and 1 roo bard rock--seems obvious and 3 EE's.


My EE's look similar to your picture and the same age----

Both my EE roos and my pure Ameraucana roos have pea combs. The pea comb on a roo gets 3 rows of bumps, and gets red much earlier than a pullet comb. Then, they get that classic curve in their tail feathers. Also, their neck/hackle and saddle feathers are very pointed, whereas a pullet has rounded neck and saddle feathers. I have caught two of my 13 week roos mounting the hens, too. My birds aren't crowing yet, but it's coming.
