Why is it purple?.....PICS

West coast of Florida.
Hi everyone! One of my ladies, Laura whose a black star (eight months old) has a very large comb, that flops over one of her eyes, I dont have a problem with that, but as you can see in the picture, the ends of the comb have turned purple. Its not overly hot or cold to touch, and she is the absolute picture of health, and gives me eggs every day - bless her!
Should I be concerned about the color? Its been that way for several months, but I cant get it out of my head that maybe its something wrong.

My girls get that purplish color when they get Bluekote on their combs for whatever reason. It does look as if she has gotten some peck marks on her comb. Could it be bruishing, or is she sticking her head somewhere that she could be getting something rubbed onto her comb? I guess those are the things I would look at. If it doesn't seem to bother her I wouldn't worry about it to much.
 
Thanks for the link, possible causes, Dehydration - shouldnt be the case, my girls have 24/7 access to fresh water. Frostbite - nope, in Florida. Poor circulation - maybe as the combs so large and folds over, so reduceing blood flow.
Any other thoughts please - should I do something about it?
 
I've noticed something similar on the combs of my bantams from time to time. The little roo we had often had purple coloration on the back of his comb; an experienced poultry keeping friend told me that was just a sign of hormonal surging.

I don't think it's anything to worry about.
 
your always welcome. I don't know much about chicken diseases or sicknesses, but i'm always on this part of BYC forum so if something occurs, (highly unlikely) I'll be ready. I agree with Dawg, if she's eating and drinking normally, I think you'll be okay. good luck! Post new pics of her!
