Well, they were actually at the PO, but they are here now! All alive and well! You all will have to wait for pics because I'm going to go to bed now! Have been up all night worrying if they were going to get here or not and if they'd even be alive! One of my chick orders last year was DOA...every last one of them...

I don't really know who's who as far as the ducks go. I have a Blue Swedish, a Fawn and White runner, a Black Runner and a Cayuga. I know the Blk Runner and the Cayuga should be black...but that's about it. You'd think it'd be so easy to tell...

Sorry for all the pics if you have dial-up

I think I remember that you mentioned in a previous post where these dear little birds came from but at the moment can't remember just where. So, where did you get them?

Ideal Poultry. I know it's quite a ways from Maine, but they let me order a small number of birds. I only ordered 14 chicks and 4 ducklings... and that's what I got... no extras.

They were mailed on Wednesday and arrived at 6:30 this morning at my PO.

I love your Phoenix/silkie chick!!!
How did your ducklings arrive, were they stressed? I'm getting an order from Ideal next week but I'm closer (TN) so I guess I should be getting mine sometime thursday. They are adorable! These will be our first ducks:)

Don't tell the other chicks, but the little mutt is my favorite! I think muttly is the cutest and is also my most friendliest

My ducks did not act stressed at all. They were eating and drinking just fine and even exploring. They are friendlier the the chicks (who mostly go and hide when I open their brooder) and they even went for a short swim today, which was fun.
I did however take Ideal's advice when I first got them and let them have their water water for 15 minutes, took it away for 15 minutes, I did that about 4 times. You are supposed to do that so they can learn how much water to drink, this is according to Ideal. I guess ducks get dehydrated easily and will drink too much water and become water logged and die.
