I let my chickens out to free range a few times a week when me and the hubby are outside, only b/c we have dogs and when we let the chickens out the dogs need to go in !!!! when ever I let the chickens out the find mushrooms and chase each other around for them... Are mushrooms ok for them to eat?? I don't know what kind they are, i know noone has died yet, just dont want them to be bad for them and then make the eggs bad for us !!!! Thanks for any help !!!!

They won't hurt them, as long as they're not poisonous. If you don't know, then it would probably be safer to not let your chickens eat them.

I can only guess they are not, since i'm sure someone would of been sick/died by now !!!
Just can't belive they LOVE them so much !!!!

I'd love to know about this too. I've seen my pullets eat a few mushrooms, and no one died or got sick either. I was wondering if maybe the toxins don't bother the chickens like they do people. I know they also love to eat poke salad and poke berries and don't get sick, but people can get very sick (unless you prepare it properly).

Okay I had a blonde moment...I read the title and thought Mushrooms that eat chickens and thought oh this is probably a joke. Jokes on me, I feel so silly!!!

Mine were eating the mushrooms too.

They have not become sick so I guessed it was ok.
They eat the top off and leave the stem so I have all these little stems all over-

Thanks everyone for the help, I'm going to keep and eye out and see if anything does happen. I did notice last week after they free ranged that a few of them had some runny poop so I will see today if it happens again and then I will know if its from the mushrooms !!!
