The post office called and said I had 5 boxes waiting for me. I got them home and now have 91 eggs from 5 different people. Almost all sent extras.

12 Speckled Sussex eggs from The Farmer's Wife (Gabbard Farms):

I ordered 12 Buff Orp eggs from hinkjc- she sent 16:

I ordered 12 BLRW and as many Speckled Sussex as Katy could squeeze out of her birds.

She sent 14 BLRW and 12 SS:

I ordered 12 Rhode Island Red eggs from TatersChickens and she sent a whopping 26!

I ordered Delawares from shortcake1806 and she even moved my order up a couple of days so I could set them at the same time as the rest.

I am now the proud owner of 91 eggs with more on the way.

Wow, that's quite a collection. I haven't become brave enough to incubate eggs yet, the whole process scares me, I'd be wringing my hands over them, especially when they were hatching......but I do see it in my future! What will you do with them all?

Woot! Have fun with all those peeps-to-be.

How much did all of that cost you? Probaly as fortune with all that shipping. Goodluck, and sending hatching vibes your way.

I have several plans for selling chicks locally and eggs online. This year is a growing year for me. I am building a coop to house 40 more birds and these eggs will have a big part in that. Some breeds I am trying to get established in and some I am working to improve my lines. I made it a point to buy my eggs from BYC breeders and have had a great experience so far with dealing with all of them. So many went out of their way to do extra for me, whether it was shipping them early or within my time frame or adding extras and in general working with me to make sure things went well.

Thanks so much everyone!

Not crazy- making business plans.

The cost was something I planned and budgeted for.

Not all the eggs are here yet. I'll update tomorrow when I get more.

Now you are in business

I have 26 eggs in my bator right now..seems so little compared to yours LOL But for me it is just where I want to be right now. You and I think alike on purchasing from only our BYC'ERS. I trust them and love their good stock. Sometimes it takes a lot to get what you want...shipping is hard on some...but it is so worth the effort when you get the quality of chicks you are looking for. My sellers pack extremely well, too. Good luck on your hatches!!

You are going to be a busy boy!!!

Glad they all made it in good shape! I shot a possum that was in my SS pen early, early this morning. All my girls and the guys are ok I think other than being stressed, but I can't figure out how the bugger got in.
