I would love to see pictures of 8 week old barred rock and australorp roos... If anybody has some pictures they wouldn't mind sharing so I can compare to my girls, it would be much appreciated!

I keep thinking we're OK, then doubting myself and finding reasons they look like boys!!!

(Any pics of a 6 week RIR roo would also be appreciated, that will be my next obsession...)

Here is an 8 week old BR cockerel (now my main flock roo)

This is our Australorp roo when he was about 8 weeks old. He is around 18 weeks old now and getting HUGE! His comb and wattles have also grown a good bit since this picture was taken.

For comparison, here are some of our Australorp pullets the same day.

Thank you soooo much! I feel much better about my little ones being girls, especially since we're all getting very attached. My barred rock's comb is not anywhere near that developed or red, and my Australorp looks just like the pullet in the second picture!

What beautiful cockerels! I can't wait to move out of suburbia so I can have one, I love roosters!!!

Thank you again for sharing and putting my mind at ease!

Just for comparison (and to show off a little), here is our Australorp roo today. He is getting to be a big boy! He's about 18 weeks old now. (Edited to add: It's the same rooster that's in the first picture in my other post.)

These are 8 week old cuckoo marans. They're almost identical to a barred rock, except for their legs are white. These are sex linked chickens so you can see that the bird in the very back is a cockeral.
The pullets, which are much, much blacker, are on their way into the coop.

Wish my girls were sex-linked!!! That would be awfully nice right now!
