Many of you know that I removed Isaac's Delaware hens from him, put them in the main flock, and replaced his women with three Buff Orpingtons, one Lt. Brahma, one Buff Brahma and left my Barred EE, Riley, with him as well. They don't pick at his comb and wattles and he looks wonderful again and seems content with the older, calmer ladies.

Last night my DH heard something and went out to check on everyone. He came in and said he'd just seen the sweetest thing. All of the hens with Isaac, except one, were on the top rung of the roost facing the window. Isaac, who is always on the top rung between his ladies, was three rows down, facing out into the room. On the fourth row down in front of Isaac, was Miranda, my Lt. Brahma hen. She was facing Isaac with her head buried in his chest feathers, close to his face. Awwwwwww............ she is always with him and I think she believes she's found her soul mate. He's the only rooster we've ever had that looks a lot like her.

Isaac is the rooster in my avatar. This is Miranda, who is over three years old now.

Miranda is a BIG girl and Isaac makes her look so much smaller when he stands next to her. I think she's met her love bug. I've caught him in a nest on more than one occasion, clucking away, with Miranda standing next to him like she is really listening to what he's telling her.
