Well I got my chicks from TSC today. I got 6 at one store, then went to the other to see if they had different variations. They were sold out when we got there - sold out within hours!!!! So we went to our third TSC and they still had some. They were the same colors as the first bunch but my mother was with me and suckered me into another 6!! LOL
So now I have 12 fluff butts. They are all eating and drinking, active, sleeping from time to time and doing well so far. When we had them in the box before we bought them, we watched... and found some pecking on the smaller ones so we took the meanies out and picked different until everyone seemed to co-exist in the box nicely. So far at home in the brooder they are not beating anyone up ... yet.
I went with the Purina Start and Grow Medicated. I wasnt going to get the medicated but thats what they were already eating and I figured if I changed to the non medicated they might be unsure... so I just went with what they had already started them on.
The brooder box is 95 right now or so. I have to keep adjusting the height of the light until I figure out where it will work perfectly since they are in the house in a spare bedroom with the door closed.
Here are pics that I took of them. I think there are three variations... not sure though. Supposed to be all pullets guess we will tell in time.
Any way you can tell me what breeds these might be?
I have a few yellows, a few that have racing stripes down their backs and a few that look a little more of a solid red.
Help in identifying would be great as the TSC people has no clue as to their breeds.
Also, do you recommend that I get polyvisol (without iron) and is it just for when they seem sickly or should I be giving it to them regardless as babies?
Thanks~!!!
Kim
