Drom~

Those are some very very very nice looking babies you have there.

How many boys did you hatch out? I see lots and lots of little boys there.

I got some Wheaties, Blue Wheaties, and a Black Copper chick today!!!

They're 4 weeks old, and from the same, amazing breeder I got my last hatch from.

Oh, and there's 4 pullets, three are wheaten, one blue wheaten. There's also 2 blue wheaten cockerels and a black copper (cockerel?)

One interesting thing I notice is that with my hatch from this breeder, most of the BCs have a lot of black, and one is solid black from beak to toe. . . This little'un is also solid black.

Thanks Kathy, Alecia, PC.

PC, right now I have either 8 cockerels and 6 pullets or 6 cockerels and 8 pullets. There are a couple who just aren't telling me. One really does have a comb like a cockerel but she has feet like a pullet and acts like a pullet.
I didn't need any more roosters

However, they look like they could be more correct than my previous ones. I may end up with some nice cockerels this time around.

Usually the pullets are better than the cockerels.

The black copper Marans are starting to show their genders

and this is Puffy Cheeks --- looks like a Marans x EE, she's kindof loosing the puffy cheeks (finally), and still has grey feathered legs, but growing a pea comb! I don't know much about EE sexing, do you think she's too red-faced to be a pullet? So far I've been thinking that she was pretty girly, but she IS getting a little pink-faced.

Is your photo of accurate coloration? You say these are from Black Copper Marans? If this is so, I am sorry, because those eggs do not appear dark enough to be considered Marans eggs. (Maybe one or two would quality??)

They're from Blue/Splash Marans. . . Gotten from MPC, so you've gotta expect them to be light.

I have a question...tried the wanted section already...

Does anyone know of anyone in the 5 state area of MN that has decent Wheaten Marans that lay at least a 5 with a large to xlarge egg size? I would be willing to travel a fair amount to get some chicks. They are my favorite among favorites, but I can't find anyone near MN that has decent ones. I really don't want eggs shipped. Haven't had great luck with that. Would like to pick up the chicks if possible...

Suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

Oh, I just had my first BC Maran of the year (just one) hatch yesterday. It really does feed the addiction, doesn't it?

Thanks for posting the link though. I am not that far from New Ulm. I will definitely keep it in mind!
