This pretty little thing is available for adoption at our local Animal Control for $5. My question is...what breed is she? They have her listed as "Black Chicken", but she looks blue to me. Like a silky or a polish...or...something! They say she's 1 year, 4 months old.
Thanks for any help! I'm going to call them for more info when they open.

She is cute as can be. I wish our local shelters would get hens in. They keep calling to ask me if I will take roosters they get in!

Okay, I just talked to the Animal Control people, and they say she's a bearded silky, and that she's a strictly indoor pet who wore a diaper and ran around the house. I don't think I can do it, but I'll call around to see if I know anyone who can. Too many dogs and cats around here!

A very nice splash Silkie hen. She will do very well in a pen outside as long as she is kept dry and not allowed to be exposed to extreme cold. Silkies handle the cold really well as long as they do not get wet. She would probably be very happy to live as a real chicken.
