Saturday May 5, 2012 Join us for the annual Oregon Spring Poultry Swap!!
Location will be the Canby Community Park. Directions and a map can be found on the Facebook Event Page:
https://www.facebook.com/events/310792692297114/
Hotel / Motel Information: http://www.canbycountryinn.com/ Canby Country Inn is small, but affordable, and the rooms are decent. I haven't checked, but it's probably less than 2 miles from the park where the swap will be.
FINAL Updated have / want list on page 97
A little more info....
Anyone wanting to set up a sale area needs to be set up and ready to sell by 10am. The official start time of the swap is 11am, and will go until things die down, or 4pm.
There are no electrical outlets in the park. If you have chicks that need heat, you either need to have an adapter set up in your vehicle (and a good battery) or hand warmer type heat packs for them.
There are no chairs / tables available to us, so you will need to bring everything that you will need to set up with. Most everyone brings a Quick-Shade type of tent / rain cover. This works well, we've had great weather in the past, and needed them for shade, but if it rains...well, there's no building to move into so...
There are restrooms (yes, with flush toilets).
If you want to set up at your vehicle, that is an option as well, and it won't be TOO far from the group, but you will need to stay in a fairly confined area around your vehicle and NOT block the boat ramp or the main road that circles around the park.
A note to everyone....
This is a public park, and reserving an area is not an option. I am going to be getting there really early (no later than 8:30) to try to flag off an area for us. If you want a space of your choosing, you must get there early. This is literally going to be a first come, first served type of situation. I am going to need A LOT of cooperation from everyone for this to be do-able.
On the subject of sick birds / how your birds should be caged, etc...
ALL birds should be kept in cages that are large enough for them to stand up in, turn around in, etc. NO OVERCROWDING. Birds should have access to clean water at all times. IF you have a sick bird, leave it at home, along with all your other birds. I do not want a 4-H kid buying a bird, taking it home, and having all their other birds get sick and possibly die because the bird you sold them had been exposed to some sick bird back at your place. Obviously we can't enforce that part, that is to rest with you, but please do what is right. IF we do see signs of illness in any of your birds, or if we see the overcrowding issues listed above, you will be asked to remove all of your birds and sale items from the park immediately. This is not negotiable.
