After looking at many coops on this site, especially the "Wichita Cabin Coop", I settled on a 9' X 6' that would best fit the area I had available. Had a pad made using paver stones that would be covered with 10-12 bags of sand. The height is 7' in the front and 6 1/2' in the rear. Wanted something I could stand up in with enough height for the roosts in the coop area. Due to the location needed a coop access from the run area and from the front of the coop.
Located the (2) roosts in the back of the coop in front of the run door. Roost are bolted in for easy removal to clean. I have two nest boxes behind the front door of the coop. The nest boxes are in a rack that is removable for cleaning the coop. Covered the floor and wall behind the roosts with vinyl flooring.
I covered the floor with about 2" of wood shavings. Under the roost is a boot tray that I cover with newspaper.
