I have both Langs and TBH's. Reason for the TBH for us was, a more natural type of hive. We make a lot of candles and the TBH;s give you much more wax for the use. We find it easier to monitor for diseases and pest. They are in my opinion much better to use against the Small Hive Beetles and wax moths. Also I make all my own hives and add a window in the Top bars, so easy through out the day to see what they are doing if you wish to look. My wife enjoys working with the top bars better, instead of picking up fulls or mediums, she just checks each frame as she takes them out. For some reason I have had less robbing with the top bars .
