Mama broody hen also wanted to adopt the quail despite it being a week since her chicks hatched and uh, the quail being almost fully feathered. She was sitting next to me as I took the pic and was softly clucking to it like she does to her chicks and lightly pecked it to try and encourage it to go under her... The quail went "nope" however and just hid in my hand.
