Our little chicken coop and run. 6’ x 8’. The coop is 4’ x 6’. The whole thing is covered. Simple but functional.
Small coop and run. The only thing I would do different is to make it possible to open the entire front. I can clean it without much trouble as designed. As built, the right hand front side of the coop opens, the South end opens and ,of course, the nesting box area opens. Would be better if the left hand front side of the coop opened too. That can be modified later...

@bernie131 Inside the coop I use pine flakes. In the run it is just dirt with a little bit of grass and some moss. So far, since the run is covered, it has stayed dry. Since we are new to this, what we do in the run may change. Plus - we only have 5 chickens. It hasn’t been a problem keeping things clean. If you have suggestions I am all ears. We are learning.

@bernie131 The rocks are used to cover the hardware cloth that is attached to and extends below and out from the 4”x 4” boards used for security. They serve a few different purposes. Mainly they keep anyone from getting hurt from the edge of the hardware cloth. I used a deeper stack of rock on the back side of the run. The thought on the back side is that they will help deflect water splashing into the run during rain. So far - so good. But - our heavy rain season hasn’t hit yet. Hopefully, that idea will work. ‍♀️ My sweet husband has accommodated my love of using river rock for landscaping around our place. With about 5 tons of river rock on hand, I have enjoyed using them in a variety of ways.
